A travel timeline

Before you reach the border

A general preparation rhythm for drivers entering the Czech Republic. Use it as a reading guide — actual requirements may vary by season and by vehicle.

  1. T − 14 days

    Plan the route

Decide whether your itinerary uses motorways at all — many regional roads remain free of vignette obligations.

Speed limits, seasonal tyre obligation (typically Nov 1 – Mar 31) and headlight regulations apply across the country.

  4. T − 1 day

Some electric and hydrogen vehicles, plus specific categories, may be exempt. See Chapter 03.
