Chapter 03 · Vehicle Exemptions
Who does not need a vignette
Not every vehicle is required to obtain an e-vignette before using Czech motorways. The list below summarises the most common exemption categories in editorial form. Any exemption is conditional on official registration through the responsible authority.
- 01
Electric vehicles
Battery-electric vehicles registered with appropriate plate markings are typically exempt under current Czech rules.
- 02
Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles
Hydrogen-powered passenger vehicles fall under the same exemption framework as fully electric ones.
- 03
Vehicles for persons with disabilities
Vehicles transporting holders of a ZTP / ZTP/P card may register an exemption through the official registry.
- 04
Emergency & rescue services
Marked emergency, fire, rescue and ambulance vehicles in service are exempt.
- 05
Armed forces & integrated rescue system
Czech and allied armed-forces vehicles on duty fall outside the vignette obligation.
- 06
Historical vehicles (specific cases)
Vehicles registered as historical (with the appropriate special plate) may be exempt depending on use.
Reader note
Exemption rules are revised periodically and depend on official registration. Compass CZ does not handle exemption requests. The authoritative source for the Czech vignette is edalnice.cz.
